Independence on the Pitch – UTC Tailgate at ...

CFCtailgateFbkThe UTC Community (especially the alumni) are invited to attend a special July 4th tailgating event at 5:30 p.m. prior to the Chattanooga FC vs. FC Tulsa soccer game at Finley Stadium.

It’s the home field of our Chattanooga Mocs and the Chattanooga FC. Last year’s July 4th CFC game brought in their largest crowd. Let’s break that record with a huge UTC contingent.  Plus it’s a great venue to catch the fireworks from the river after the game.

Some food and beverages will be provided, but feel free to bring your grill and own food as well. We’ll have some soft drinks, door prizes and special activities.

View the event invitation on Facebook.

NEW – The first 25 people who come to the tailgate will receive one of our new Chattanooga Alumni t-shirts.

Mocs Tailgate at Chattanooga FC Matches...

While Finley Stadium is a special place for all Mocs fans when we cheer on Coach Huesman and our football team, especially during Homecoming (which by the way is October 16th this fall), but Finley has also become the home of another great Chattanooga team during the summer months – the Chattanooga Football Club (or Chattanooga FC).  In their inaugural season in the National Premiere Soccer League (NPSL), the blues’ fan base took off…and for good reason. Chattanooga has always been richly blessed with great soccer talent.  It’s good to see a semi-pro team utilizing a lot of our hometown guys. But it’s also fun to see great talent from outside the area on CFC as well.  During 2009, that talent helped the club break records in attendance and put up a great record in the league. And many took notice, as this year’s squad has even greater talent and are poised to put up a great fight against some of the more established NPSL teams.

Well, we at UTC and our GOLD Council feel it’s important to support this great addition to our community. Not only is the soccer top notch, but the games are entertaining (with typical soccer match cheers from the Chattahooligans and great beverage and food provided during the games). Plus it helps to support the use of Finley stadium, which is our home field. With more use of the facility, the more amount of people will help to keep it nice.

CFC-GOLDtailgate2010Therefore, the UTC GOLD Alumni will be hosting a pre-game tailgate gathering for TWO of this season’s home matches.  Each tailgate will take place one hour prior to kickoff most likely in the north side parking lot (closest to downtown).  Most likely our tailgates will occur on the June 19 and July 4 games (we will post confirmation of these dates later). Look for our blue and gold UTC tent.  All tailgates will be “bring your own beverages and food” but we may have a few items to munch on.  Be sure to bring your alumni card as well for a chance at door prizes. (Need an alumni card, click here) All games are slated to start at 7 p.m. but for official times, be sure to check out the Chattanooga FC website.

Don your light and dark blue clothes (or purchase your very own CFC traditional soccer scarf) and cheer on Chattanooga!
