The University has been working hard to improve IT service levels for faculty, staff, and students this year. On June 3rd, a new Identity and Access Management (IAM) system will automate many routine administrative tasks to grant access to key UTC systems much faster than ever before. While many of these enhancements will affect what happens behind the scenes, there will be some new functions that will change the way you interact with UTC systems that are designed to improve service levels for all users. Please take a moment to read about the coming changes so that you know what to expect.
1. Password Self-Service
If you are a new user or you elect to reset your password the first time, you will be prompted to set up 5 challenge-response questions. The purpose of these questions is to provide a way to verify your identity in the event that you forget your password. If that happens, you can select the “Forgot My Password” link and the system will randomly select 3 of these questions for you to answer to verify your identity. Once you have been verified, you can reset your password without a call to Client Services.
2. Student Email Accounts
With the new IAM system, Student’s utcID passwords will automatically be synchronized to their MocsMail+ (Google) accounts. Please Note that any time you update your password through the University, you will need to update the password in your mobile device settings.
These changes will go into effect June 3rd. We will be sending an update within the next week giving details as to where to go to access the new self-service website.
