We have posted an updated schedule of events for parents and students for the August 12th session. It is a ONE-DAY session. Please check your ACT Sub-Scores in Math and English to see if you need to come to the placement tests.
PLACEMENT TESTS
Students who have an English sub-socre of 19 or above do not have to take the placement test; if you have a score higher than 28, you can take the test to see if you place into our second semester English course. Students with a Math sub-score of below 24 need to take the Math placement test. Any student can take the Math test if they would like to improve their placement. We will take the higher of the placements (your ACT or your placement test score). You can always contact the Orientation office for more information.
MOVE-IN
If you are attending the August 12th Freshman Orientation Session, you will be allowed to move in to your Fall Housing assignment from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11th. You should have received an email from the Housing and Residence Life Office about where to go to check in.
If you are not attending the August 12th session and are a new freshman, you will be able to move into your housing complex on Thursday, August 14th 13th. Please contact the Housing and Residence Life office for more details.
If you have not already made arrangements with Housing and Residence Life for the fall semester, we are no longer accepting applications. If you have completed your application and are unsure of your placement, please contact the Housing and Residence Life office at 423.425.4304.
CLASS AVAILABILITY
We have received a lot of questions about the availability of classes. While it is true that this will be the largest freshman class to ever enter UTC, we are dedicated to making sure our students get full-time schedules that allow them to make progress toward their degree.
UTC is very interested in the success of students, particularly freshmen, who are transitioning from high school to college. To assist you in your transition, we offer three different experiences; you may participate in all three if you wish. Each of the classes in our First Year Studies program offers unique experiences to help you adjust to UTC and begin your academic journey successfully.
OTHER QUESTIONS
As always, we have answers to several frequently asked questions on our website. You can always contact the Orientation office at 423.425.5220 or leave a comment here or on our registration site. We will do our best to get to your questions/concerns as soon as is possible.
THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING UTC AND GO MOCS!!
