NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UTC/AP)
- The Association of Art Museum Directors has praised a decision by a Nashville judge that forbids Fisk University from selling a 50 percent share of its art collection donated by the late painter Georgia O’Keeffe.
- The historically black university argued that its precarious financial state prevents it from maintaining and displaying the collection.
- Chancellor Ellen Hobbs Lyle ruled that selling a 50 percent stake in the collection to the Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, Ark., would violate the conditions of the gift to the school.
- Lyle ordered the state attorney general to find a way to keep the collection in Nashville within 20 days.
