Chattanooga, Tenn. -Over-priced schoolbooks can be avoided by going to Chattanooga Books, a rent all bookstore, 422 Vine St.

David Phillips, manager of Chattanooga Books, said that they rent out books at a better deal because he sets his profit margins at a lower price.

“I intentionally set my margin or profit margin for each book at a lower percentage then what they do on campus and that insures that my prices are the best,” Phillips said.

Phillips said that they rent out all of their books and online workbook codes.  The UTC bookstore only rents out books.

“Everything we sell textbooks, supplements, anything like that is available to rent,” Phillips said.  “UTC’s bookstore is not a rent all store; they have selected titles that are available to rent but it’s not all of their inventory.”

Trey Maitland, a UTC student from Brentwood, TN, said that he had to wait a while to get books because of final aid, and it put him behind in class.

“This year I had to wait over week for my books because I had to wait for my final aid check to come in to pay for my books, therefore I got behind in my classes,” Maitland said.

Chattanooga Books is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
