Dear Colleagues,
Our primary mission—the reason we exist—is to educate students: to prepare them for successful, meaningful lives as professionals and as engaged citizens. One of our greatest privileges and responsibilities as American citizens is exercising our right to vote. By participating in the election process, we demonstrate our commitment to improving our communities and our nation.
The best way we can encourage our students to participate in our political process and to vote is to lead by example. Early voting in Tennessee for local offices and state and federal primaries begins July 18.
Remember these important dates:
July 18—Early voting opens
August 2—Early voting ends
August 7—Election Day
Here in Hamilton County, the Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association has launched Your Vote Matters, an initiative aimed at increasing voter turnout throughout our community. I hope you will exercise your right to vote in the upcoming election.
