David Nordy, Jr., an Electrical Engineering junior and the president of the student chapter of the IEEE, was been selected as an IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Scholar. David competed with students from all across the country for this honor. The award comes with $2,000/year for up to three years of funding.

The IEEE PES Scholarship Plus Initiative targets students preparing for careers in the power industry. Students are required to take at least three power engineering courses. While many universities scaled back their power engineering curricula in years past, UTC has retained a strong program with multiple power and energy electives available for students to take.
