UTC celebrated its 129th birthday on September 16 during its annual Founders Day festivities. Chancellor Steve Angle delivered his annual State of the University address. Brock Scholar Wins Prestigious Gilman Scholarship

After being awarded the nationally competitive Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship, freshman Brock Scholar DaiMeshia Seay will be spending this year’s fall semester in Australia at the University of Southern Queensland.

Ruth S. Holmberg Grant for Faculty Excellence awards announced

The Ruth S. Holmberg Grant for Faculty Excellence awards funds to deserving faculty for professional development.
Of the 20 proposals received in 2015, six faculty members earned awards—selected tenured or tenure track faculty who are promoting “innovative or creative research and engagement or advancement of an academic discipline.”

Brothers graduate with engineering degrees, one will pursue Ph.D., the other begins career

David McPherson was homeschooled in Chattanooga, finished high school by age 15, and collected his UTC bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in May 2015 at 19 years old. His brother Andrew also graduated in May at age 21 with a software engineering degree.
