The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics Department hit a major benchmark for the first time following the 2014 spring semester. May graduate Glenn Garrett was among the first UTC students to declare nuclear engineering as his emphasis of study. Before he picked up his diploma for both a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with Nuclear Emphasis, Garrett’s achievements as a TVA intern were applauded, because the results had national and international impact on the nuclear industry.
Brianna Daugherty has been selected to receive the Glenn Draper Scholarship, awarded to a student who has completed two successive years in UTC Choral Activities and has demonstrated successful academic performance. The scholarship was established in 2002 by friends and colleagues of Glenn Draper—it is funded through a UC Foundation endowment.
Hannah and Sophia Seage, twins who are both French majors and Education minors, didn’t know what they were getting into when they volunteered for the ThinkAchieve project to help teach French to children at Rivermont Elementary School in Hixson, TN in 2012. They thought that they would just go to classes and assist in French lessons, but the experience grew, eventually culminating in their Departmental Honors Theses.
