Update: Former BB&T CEO addresses financial crisis

We are in an economic recovery, but not a healthy recovery, according to John A. Allison, the former Chairman of BB&T Corporation, who spoke on campus for the 2012 Burkett Miller Distinguished Lecture Series.  The Scott L. Probasco, Jr. Chair of Free Enterprise hosted the event.

Nobel Laureate Peter Diamond to speak on campus

Nobel Laureate Peter A. Diamond, recent nominee for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, will speak on Monday, October 17 at noon in the University Center Auditorium, addressing the topic “Markets and Government.” This event, part of the Burkett Miller Distinguished Lecture Series, is free and open to the public. Seating is limited to a first-come, first-served basis.

Nobel Laureate explores self-governance

Nobel Laureate Elinor (Lin) Ostrom told a UTC audience in the challenge of self- governance in complex contemporary environments, one of the broad lessons is that the complexity of markets is not automatically a sign of inefficiency.
