Dr. Benjamin Gross celebrates chemistry history at annual banquet

Dr. Benjamin Gross celebrated the renovation of Grote Hall and the 125th anniversary of the University by providing a pictorial history presentation at the 23rd Annual Department of Chemistry Awards Banquet.  “Chemistry is part of that history,” Gross said.  “There is much to celebrate in our heritage and performance.”

Dr. Gregory Grant to receive national chemistry award

Dr. Gregory J. Grant, Irvine W. Grote Professor of Chemistry, will be honored with the American Chemical Society (ACS) Award for Research at an Undergraduate Institution on Tuesday, March 29, in Anaheim, California, where the 241st American Chemical Society National Meeting will be held. Grant’s award is the pinnacle recognition for a chemist whose focus is on research with undergraduate students.

Chemistry faculty and students provide flood relief

Chemistry department faculty and summer undergraduate research students at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga collected clothes for flood relief in Nashville.  Desiree Benefield, a graduate student at Vanderbilt and a 2009 graduate of UTC’s Chemistry Department, will take the supplies to a shelter in Nashville.
