Each spring the Cress Gallery hosts the Senior Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibitions, the capstone event of the creative research of students enrolled in the professional curriculum of the Department of Art at UTC. The 2014 Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibitions “Show One” will run until Friday, April 11, at the Cress Gallery of Art.
The Cress Gallery of Art at The University of Tennessee Chattanooga announces the 2014 UTC Department of Art Juried Student Exhibition, supported by the Friends of the Cress Gallery. Jered Sprecher, Artist and Associate Professor of Art at University of Tennessee Knoxville, serves as juror.
In Michael Scoggins’s art exhibit, “A Day in the Life,” visitors to the Cress Gallery will find something surprising – pages of a spiral bound notebook recreated by hand on a colossal scale. Scoggins is the Diane Marek Visiting Artist featured in the Cress through December 6.
The UTC Cress Gallery of Art is beginning this academic year with a chance for everyone to see what the Art Department faculty can do. One piece in particular will, for the first time, spill out of the gallery and into the Fine Arts lobby. “We had to get special permission, but everyone is really excited,” says Ruth Grover, Director and Curator of the Cress Gallery of Art.
