Take Five Series to focus on Appalachian Literature

UTC’s popular Take Five literary series returns in 2014 with a focus on Appalachian Literature. This year’s series will take place Tuesday nights from January through April.

Professor inducted into East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame

In a career that’s included honors ranging from the Order of Freedom Medal by the President of Slovenia and multiple inclusions in The Best American Poems, Dr. Richard Jackson, UT National Alumni Association Distinguished Service Professor of English, has another one to add to his list. He was among five area writers recently inducted into the East Tennessee Writer’s Hall of Fame by Friends of Literacy.

English majors attend literary conference

University to celebrate National Letter Writing Day

In the age of e-mail, text messages, and social media, handwritten letters are quickly becoming a dying art. In celebration of letter writing, the UTC Department of English and the Chattanooga Council of Teachers of English will host the Second Annual UTC Day on Letter Writing on Thursday, October 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
