Pre-service teachers learn at NASA workshop

A group of pre-service teachers recently gathered to attend the NASA Education, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Workshop, where they engaged in a hands-on activity designed to monitor the progress of an eclipse.  It was one way the students learned to effectively teach elementary and middle school students.

Institute offers strategies to local teachers

A group of Hamilton County elementary teachers representing 30 different schools learned new strategies to manage their classrooms at the first William Butterfield Classroom Management Institute, held at UTC. A total of 150 people participated, including administrators, pre-service teachers from UTC, and representatives from community organizations.

Governor’s School gives high school students new perspectives

Avery Wyatt’s journey to Tennessee’s Governor’s School for Prospective Teachers at UTC began many years ago when her “students” were really her stuffed animals.
