A portion of a painting created by two graphic design students has been mounted on the wall outside the Chattanooga Room of the University Center. As part of an assignment, Lindsey Higgins and Dustin Hysinger worked together to create a piece of art for their Drawing IV midterm.

Chemistry major Trey Smith recently became the 2010 National Collegiate Bodybuilding Overall Men’s Champion in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. “I’ve been a bodybuilder for seven years,” said Smith, 25 years old. “Winning the Men’s Overall Championship is like winning the Heisman Trophy of bodybuilding, there is no greater honor at the college level.”
Arielle Lankford, a senior biology major, spent spring semester in the Sydney, Australia suburb of North Ryde, as part of the International Education Study Abroad Program. Lankford described her study abroad experience as life changing.
For 25 years chemistry majors have been developing their critical thinking skills and gaining practical experience as part of the Chemistry Department’s Undergraduate Research Program (URP) held every summer. “The URP Program is competitive. Currently, about half of the students who apply for the program are selected to participate,” said Gregory J. Grant, Irvine W. Grote Professor of Chemistry.
