University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore Michael Barr is the recipient of the Public Education Foundation’s Empowerment Book Scholarship for his community involvement and unwavering commitment to his academic success. Barr, a 2022 graduate of Central High School, is pursuing a degree in accounting with aspirations for a doctorate in the field.
Dr. Artanya Wesley appointed Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs
Dr. Artanya Wesley has been appointed the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s next vice chancellor of enrollment management and student affairs. Wesley, who will assume her new duties on Feb. 5, comes to UTC from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she has served as vice chancellor for student affairs since 2019.
UTC Divine Nine Heritage Park opening an “opportunity for us to see a dream come true”
A long-awaited tribute to the legacy of the pioneering African American Greek-letter fraternities and sororities on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus has formally been unveiled. On Friday, Oct. 6, as part of Homecoming Week, a grand opening ceremony was held to introduce UTC Divine Nine Heritage Park, a monument and destination spot to educate the campus on the origins, history and purpose of the National Panhellenic Council’s “Divine Nine.”

Promotion day: Inaugural Middle School to Moc Scholar program creates UTC pipeline
Between May 15-23, UTC dignitaries are participating in numerous Hamilton County Schools eighth-grade promotion events to introduce the Middle School to Moc Scholar program. A collaboration between UTC and Hamilton County Schools, Middle School to Moc Scholar will award every eighth-grade student a certificate of acceptance to UTC for fall 2027 enrollment—contingent upon successful completion of high school and meeting admission requirements for the University.

A ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 27, officially launched University High, a new two-year program designed to help Hamilton County High School students get a head start on a college degree. University High will be headquartered on the UTC campus.
Cleveland rocks: Dual admission agreement allows for smooth transfer from Cleveland State to UTC
On Tuesday, April 18, an updated dual admission agreement between the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Cleveland State Community College was formalized as part of a Power C Tour event in Cleveland State’s George L. Mathis Student Center. The Cleveland State to UTC agreement is designed to provide a seamless transition for students earning an associate degree at Cleveland State to continue their education and obtain a bachelor’s degree at UTC.
