2014 State of the University

Before Chancellor Steve Angle’s 2014 State of the University address to the community, Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger called UTC “a vital part of Hamilton County for more than 125 years” and he thanked Chancellor Steve Angle for his leadership.  Coppinger explained that the University has had several names during its history, but its motto has not changed. “‘We Shall Achieve’ is a motto we also practice in Hamilton County through good government, conservative fiscal management, and creating economic development,” he said.

In his inaugural year, Angle delivered his speech to community leaders followed by a campus presentation to faculty, staff, and students. Click here to read Angle’s full address to the community. In addition to reporting on the strengths of the campus, Angle reiterated the campus priorities of student success and community connections.  See Chancellor Steve Angle’s State of the University address and comments by University of Tennessee President Joe DiPietro, Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger and Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke here.

Reminder: staff performance reviews due

Performance staff reviews for the year 2013 can be conducted and submitted this month, with a deadline of April 1.  UTC and all campuses and institutes now evaluate staff performance based on the calendar year, January through December.  This change has no impact on faculty performance reviews, administered by the Office of the Provost.

Money matters

Have you had a conversation with your supervisor about next year’s budget?  There’s still time to voice your opinion about the priorities you would like to see addressed.  Vice Chancellors are expected to send budget requests to the Budget Office and the Executive Team and Deans by April 2.
