New Antivirus Software for UTC Faculty and Staff (Home Use): McAfee Must Be Uninstalled

Microsoft Forefront antivirus software has been selected for antivirus protection by the University of Tennessee for system wide use as part of the cost reduction effort. The ITD Help Desk is working with the campus to remove the McAfee Antivirus software and replace it with Forefront. New Antivirus for UTC

With the new Microsoft Campus Agreement, UT is now licensed to offer Forefront Client Security to Faculty and Staff. With the Agreement, licensing can be leveraged to save the University a considerable amount of money over the current McAfee antivirus contract. The McAfee license will expire in June of 2010. Time to run updates

On Tuesday Feb 9, Microsoft released critical updates for Windows. You will need to run Windows Updates to make sure your computer has the latest patches from Microsoft. The UTC network registration system will be verifying these updates are installed on Monday, February 15th.
