Password Enforcement

In order to ensure the security of University resources and to align with UT System policies and practices, IT will be implementing changes regarding password expiration and history.  The following changes will take effect July 1, 2017.

  • Passwords will expire and must be reset (once every 180 days for regular employees; 60 days for IRIS users)
    • Upon expiration, accounts will be locked until the password is reset.
  • Password history will be enforced.  This means you will need to choose a new password every time it is reset.

Beginning July 1, you will have until September 15 to change your password to be in compliance. Please do so as soon as possible. If you have recently changed your password, you will still need to change your password again between July 1 and September 15.  If you receive email messages to change your password before September 15, go ahead and do so at that time.  If you do not change your password during this time frame, your account will be locked and you will need to change your password to regain access to University resources.
