Your resume is a personal marketing tool that highlights your unique qualifications, skills and experiences in a way that grabs the attention of employers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your resume isn\u2019t just for job applications; it\u2019s also for networking and career fairs. Whether or not you\u2019re actively applying, keeping your resume up to date ensures you&#8217;re ready when the right opportunity comes along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few key tips to make your resume stand out:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tailor it for every role.<\/strong>&nbsp;Use job descriptions to identify key skills and industry-specific language.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Include a professional profile section.<\/strong>&nbsp;Objectives statements are outdated and inadequate. Placed at the top, the professional profile section is a short paragraph highlighting the most important information without needing to redo your entire resume each time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Highlight transferable skills.<\/strong>&nbsp;Show how your past experiences align with what the employer needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Keep your resume clean and concise.&nbsp;<\/strong>Use simple and professional formatting that clearly shows each section:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Education and certifications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional associations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community involvement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional sections that add value to your resume<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use bullet points that begin with an action verb and demonstrate an accomplishment\/result.<\/strong>&nbsp;Whenever possible, include numbers to demonstrate your achievements. For example: Directed the work of 12 professional engineers to complete a $12M design project over three months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>List your experience and education in descending order.<\/strong>&nbsp;Start with the most recent.
