As we near the end of 2024, UTC is thriving.  This year has been a landmark one with record-high enrollment, record grant awards, and our biggest ever fundraising year with $60.1 million in gifts.  We have over $414 million in active capital projects that will provide facilities vital to the future of this university.  The people who are UTC are doing an outstanding job, and our university is flourishing.  Now is the perfect time for me to consider the next step in my career.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve as Chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for the past eleven and a half years.  We have accomplished so much and set the stage for a prosperous future.  While I am not yet ready to retire, I am ready to step away from the Chancellor’s role.

I have decided to return to the faculty effective January 1, 2025.  The most enjoyable part of my job has been working with students, seeing their success and helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations.  I look forward to working closely with students and continuing to be a vital part of our Mocs community.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make my term as chancellor exciting and productive.  President Boyd will be appointing an interim chancellor who will serve until a permanent chancellor can be named.
