In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are making some changes in the academic calendar. Below I describe the changes we are making. Should you have questions about them, please feel free to email me or join the regular Thursday Q&A sessions to discuss with Provost Hale, the Faculty Senate President, and me.
- Spring 2020 Withdrawal Date – Students may now withdraw from the Spring 2020 full-term or part-of-term 2 classes until the end of the day on Monday 20 April 2020, which is the last day of instruction for those terms. This is a one-time change.
- Withdrawal Date for Future Regular Terms – Students may withdraw during future regular terms (fall or spring) on the 2nd Monday after the semester break.
- Incomplete Grades – Starting with Spring 2020, and for all future terms, incomplete grades must be updated to a final grade by the time full-term final grades are due in the subsequent regular semester.
Thus, an incomplete grade recorded in a fall term will need to be updated to a final grade by the time final grades are due for the full-term of the subsequent spring semester. And an incomplete grade recorded during a summer or spring term will need to be updated to a final grade by the time final grades are due for the full-term of the subsequent fall semester.
As a specific case of this, incomplete grades from Fall 2019 will be due by Monday 4 May 2020, along with final grades for the Spring 2020 semester. (The prior due date was Friday 27 March 2020.)
Please accept my wish that you, your families and your friends are well and will remain well.
John “Matt” Matthews
Interim Vice Provost
