Dear UTC Students:
In continuing to support, care for and maintain your physical and mental health, we wanted to update you on how and when you as UTC students can access physical and mental health resources through University Health Services and the Counseling Center.
Physical Health Concerns
UHS is operating remotely starting Thursday, March 26.
How do I access services?
If a student has physical health questions or is not feeling well, the student can reach UHS via telephone at 423-425-2266 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Who might I talk to when I call?
Our administrative team will be available to answer many of your questions regarding services or immunizations. Also, nurses and nurse practitioners are available to meet about your health concerns and acute issues as well as discuss medication refills. Please select the option for APPOINTMENTS (option 3 in the phone tree) when you have health concerns or questions.
What do I do if I have a physical health need after hours or on the weekend?
If you have an urgent medical need that cannot wait until the next business day, please review the University Health Services website for suggestions of urgent care centers in Chattanooga.
What do I do if I am having a physical health emergency?
If an emergency medical need arises, you will need to call one of the following:
- 911—From your phone if off campus
- Campus Police—423-425-4357(HELP) or by using a blue or red phone on campus
Mental Health Concerns
The UTC Counseling Center will remain open in the University Center until 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 2. After this date, counseling services will be offered remotely to students from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
How do I discuss counseling service options?
To discuss appointment options, please call 423-425-4438 during business hours or visit the UTC Counseling Center website.
What if I am experiencing a mental health crisis?
Crisis intervention services are limited and will be addressed individually. If you have questions and are seeking support/resources from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, please call 423-425-4438.
