  • What’s the campus housing visitation policy after move-in?

Visitors who live off campus are not permitted in any residence hall after move-in day.

  • What modifications have been made to student housing? Are some students still sharing rooms?

Common areas such as lounges and rooms are reconfigured to help maintain social distancing. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided to all campus residents and hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout all campus residence halls. Housing and Residence Life is holding designated rooms for residential students who test positive for COVID-19 and those who need to self-isolate due to potential exposure. Some students are sharing rooms, and all students are urged to take precautions and maintain social distancing while in residence halls.

  • What steps are being taken to disinfect residence halls and common areas per health and safety protocols?

Housing and Residence Life maintenance staff are following updated, comprehensive protocols for cleaning and sanitizing all rooms and common spaces.

  • What about plans for cleaning campus housing and other facilities? How often will the common areas be cleaned?

UTC staff follow current cleaning and sanitizing guidelines in all rooms and common spaces. Additional attention is given to high-touch areas such as door knobs and handrails. Disinfectant spray is available in all classrooms, offices and campus housing. In classrooms, students will be asked to clean their work spaces and equipment before and after use.

  • How will social distancing work in campus housing?

Every housing complex has been thoroughly assessed for social distancing. UTC Housing and Residence Life has rearranged furniture in bedrooms to accommodate social distancing. Where social distancing was not possible, bedrooms were converted to one-person occupancy.

  • Do the rooms in campus housing share the same air circulation? Have updates been made to the systems to improve circulation between apartments in the dorms?

Bedrooms within unit suites share air circulation. Updates and maintenance in all the complexes are done in compliance with and in accordance with all building specifications.
