Extensive restrictions remain in place for travel of all types and to virtually any location.
- Travelers should take pre-trip precautions and be certain of quarantine or other potential restrictions in place.
- UTC employees who travel to areas for which quarantine will be required before returning to work will have to use personal, accrued leave for time away from work.
- Non-essential business travel continues to be prohibited.
Based on recommendations from the CDC and local and state health departments, UTC employees and students are urged to take precautions prior to traveling outside the Chattanooga area.
Know Before You Go
Travelers should review recommendations or restrictions in place for areas they will travel to or through to determine if a quarantine is recommended.
If a quarantine is recommended based on travel plans, the employee or student traveler should complete a COVID-19 Notification Form no more than seven days prior to leaving Chattanooga.
Decisions about travel should be considered before leaving Chattanooga so that travelers can be fully aware of potential impact on their return to campus.
University Health officials currently require a notification to the University and 14-day self-quarantine upon return from international or cruise ship travel.
Call University Health at 423-425-2266 with questions about upcoming personal travel.
Employee Personal Leave in Quarantine Periods
Travel to or through an area that requires quarantine before returning to campus may result in employees being required to use personal annual leave or sick leave for time missed from work. For those without available leave, it could mean unpaid time missed from work.
Questions about type of leave to be recorded during a required quarantine period following personal travel should be directed to the Office of Human Resources at 423-425-4221 or via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
University-Related Business Travel
Non-essential business travel is prohibited until further notice. If business travel needs are deemed essential, the employee and his or her supervisor must request approval from the University Emergency Services Official, Robie Robinson, in collaboration with the Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance.
Send all essential business travel requests to SAFETY@UTC.edu.
