Announcements & Deadlines

Extended Hours This Week for Administrative Offices
Several administrative student support offices will open for extended hours to accommodate students with last minute enrollment needs. The offices will be open Monday, August 19 through Thursday, August 22 until 5:30 p.m. Regular business hours from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. will be observed on Friday, August 23. The participating offices are:

  • Bursar
  • Center for Academic Support and Advisement
  • Office of the Dean of Students
  • The Graduate School
  • ID Office/ Mocs Card
  • MOCS One Center (available for Financial Aid and Records Office questions)
  • Undergraduate Admissions
  • Housing & Residence Life

Express Cart – Sponsored by the Financial Wellness Center
Hop on the Express Cart with the Financial Wellness Center and get a ride to where you need to go on campus while answering Financial Literacy trivia questions! Look out for our golf carts driving around campus!  Free rides will be available Tuesday, August 20 and Wednesday, August 21 from 8:30am to 10:30am.

Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again.August 22-25 at 7:30pm

Please join us this week in the Cadek Recital Hall (Room 200) for Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. by Alice Birch., a feminist and experimental exploration of gender and performance. This production, the Tennessee premiere of the piece, is a celebration of UTC’s Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program’s 30th anniversary, and is co-sponsored by the Program and the UTC Theatre Division.  Tickets are $15 – click here for more details. 2019 Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium – August 28
Are you interested in learning more about undergraduate research at UTC? Would you like to participate in an undergraduate research project? Attend the UR Symposium on Wednesday, August 28 from 4-6pm in the UC Chattanooga Rooms to network with 2019 scholars, and learn about all of the exciting UR research projects on campus, and discover how you can get involved.  The student poster presentation session will run from 4:00pm-5:30pm followed by a mix and mingle from 5:30pm-6pm, which will feature the UTC Clarinet Quartet.

GEAR UP Jobs Available – Fall 2019 Semester
The GEAR UP program, which helps 7th & 8th graders at four inner-city schools get on track for college, is hiring tutors.  If you are interested in helping a group of students who have faced some serious challenges succeed in middle school, move toward high school graduation, and realize their college ambitions, please consider becoming part of the GEAR UP effort.

Successful applicants will:

  • Have completed a minimum of 45 undergraduate credit hours before the fall 2019 semester
  • Have at least a 2.5 G.P.A.
  • Be enrolled in a university program or have already graduated from one
  • Be able to arrange transportation to the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy, Dalewood Middle, East Lake Academy or Orchard Knob Middle

Pay for after-school staff is $9.50 an hour and $11 an hour for graduate students.  In-school teaching assistants make $9 an hour and $10.50 for graduate students. Schedules are based on our schools’ needs and staff availability, and most staff members will work about 15 hours each week.  If you meet the above qualifications and you’re interested in lining up with Team GEAR UP, please download our application packet here.
