Works in Progress: Between Reading and Being: Reflections on a Year in Zimbabwe, a talk by Dr. James Arnett

Between Reading and Being: Reflections on a Year in Zimbabwe

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 7th, 2018 // 3pm
540 McCallie // Room 111

Come join Dr. James Arnett for his Works in Progress talk: “Between Reading and Being: Reflections on a Year in Zimbabwe.” Having spent the last year in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on a Fulbright to study the conditions of literary production, he’s back with an account of what, exactly, the adventure is all adding up to. Taking “works in progress” literally, this is a vacation slideshow/delirious sprint through the various projects that have bubbled up from and since his African sojourn. There will be pictures of elephants, and there will be a slightly pedantic lecture about why you shouldn’t have come for the pictures of the elephants; and then there will be more pictures of elephants.

Thursday, November 8th
540 McCallie/Room 111,
