Dr. Guilfoyle’s research focuses on early modern Ireland and Britain, the British Empire, political economy, state formation, early modern capitalism, and the history of economic thought.  He is currently working on two article projects. The first is on state formation in the Irish Restoration commercial settlement. The second is on English regulation of the Irish wool trade, c.1650-1700.
