Eighteen students recently competed in the 17th Annual UTC Piano Arts Competition. This spring event, open to high school and middle school pianists, offers scholarships and prizes for piano performance.
Engineering students make therapy equipment for local schools
“A wobble board” may sound like something silly from a cartoon, but this piece of equipment serves the important purpose of developing reflexes and balance in children with disabilities. And thanks to some enterprising UTC engineering students, Griffith Elementary and Sequatchie County Middle School now have several of the much-needed boards.

Baja SAE team places tenth in design at Washington University
UTC engineering students placed 10th in design, 16th in maneuverability and 22nd in cost at the 2013 Baja Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International competitions held at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. Students, faculty and staff decided to Get in the Game and save a life in spring 2013 and became part of the Be The Match Registry, the cell registry that pairs potential donors with patients suffering from blood cancers.
Anna Lane earns Tennessee Library Association award
Anna Lane, Assistant to the Dean at Lupton Library, received the Tennessee Library Association (TLA) Support Staff Award at the TLA annual conference, held in Chattanooga in April 2013. She was nominated by Theresa Liedtka, Dean of the Lupton Library, and Virginia Cairns, Head of Reference and Instruction.
