Dr. June Scobee Rodgers to speak January 29

Dr. June Scobee Rodgers will present “Why STEM teachers are needed today more than ever” on Wednesday, January 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the Challenger STEM Learning Center on the UTC campus, located at 855 East Fifth Street.  This event is free and open to the public.

In support of the world’s first commercial space flight in 2014, the UTC Challenger STEM Learning Center participated in a live Google Hangout streamed live around the world. The event was sponsored by the National Challenger Center Network, Virgin Galactic, and Galactic Unite.

Young students who enjoy the fun of a mission at the UTC Challenger STEM Learning Center will always remember their responsibilities in space or as a member of mission control. The new director of the facility says the fun isn’t just for children; businesses can explore a new level of trust among coworkers with teambuilding exercises.

Challenger Center bestows awards

Just before she handed the George H.W. Bush Award to Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, Dr. June Scobee Rodgers told the crowd gathered for the Challenger Center for Space Science Education (Challenger Center) conference at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, “This is an eagle and we are the wind beneath her wings.”
