Sixteen University of Tennessee at Chattanooga criminal justice students stepped out into the community during the spring semester for their Community Engagement class to help Chattanooga’s homeless population and work alongside local service providers. Professor of Criminal Justice Tammy Garland organized the course to get her students engaged in the community and apply the skills they learned in the classroom.
The Decoda Cello Quartet will present a workshop on community engagement through music and the arts on Friday, January 20, at 4:30 p.m. in Cadek Recital Hall on the UTC campus.
Students from area schools like Howard, Brainerd, and Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy recently explored Campus as part of the GEAR UP program. The rising high school juniors and seniors got a taste for college as they dissected sharks and produced a live talk show in UTC’s TV Studio.
Social Work students teamed-up with area nonprofit agencies to provide much needed research and improve outreach success in the Chattanooga community.
