We are excited to welcome both new and returning families to the UTC community. For those joining us for the first time, welcome to the Mocs family! We look forward to partnering with you throughout the year as your student thrives at UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the semester gets underway, encourage your student to get involved on campus by attending events, joining student organizations, and finding opportunities to build community. <a href=\"https:\/\/mocsyncorgs.utc.edu\/\"><strong>MocSync<\/strong><\/a> is a great resource for discovering programs, organizations, and events happening across campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also hope you\u2019ll join us for <strong>Fall Family Weekend, September 18-20, 2026!<\/strong> Fall Family Weekend is a wonderful opportunity to visit campus, spend time with your student, experience UTC traditions, and connect with other Mocs families. <strong>Registration is required<\/strong>, and families are encouraged to register early. Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/ffw\"><strong>UTC Parent and Family Association<\/strong><\/a> for registration information, the weekend schedule, and additional details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The start of the semester is also a great time for students to establish healthy routines, stay organized, and develop strong habits that support their academic and personal success. We also encourage families to become familiar with the many resources available on campus so you can help connect your student with the right support if and when they need it. Our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/enrollment-management-and-student-affairs\/center-for-student-leadership-engagement-and-community\/parent-and-family-association\/utc-family-guide\">UTC Family Guide<\/a><\/strong> is a great place to start and refer back to when needed! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As always, the Parent and Family Association is here to support you throughout the year. The Fall 2026 semester officially began on Monday, August 24, and we are thrilled to welcome&nbsp;<strong>11,829 students<\/strong>&nbsp;to campus. Overall, the Fall 2026 fee payment process was successful. While some students were cancelled due to non-payment, the Bursar\u2019s Office made every effort to keep students informed by providing multiple messages and notices regarding the cancellation date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stay Connected and Check Email Regularly<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we move into the semester, please encourage your son or daughter to&nbsp;check their UTC email regularly. Important information about payments, refunds, deadlines, and other student account matters will be communicated through email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first Fall 2026 refunds will be processed on September 2. If your student is eligible for a refund, we hope they selected&nbsp;ACH\/Direct Deposit&nbsp;through their MyMocsNet account. ACH is a secure, convenient option and the&nbsp;fastest way to receive a refund. If Direct Deposit has not yet been established, we strongly encourage students to set it up through their MyMocsNet account. Students who receive a paper check should be aware that checks are mailed to the permanent address on file and may take&nbsp;5\u201310+ days&nbsp;to arrive through USPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuition Installment Payment Plan Reminder<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your student is enrolled in the&nbsp;Tuition Installment Payment Plan (TIPP)&nbsp;for the Fall semester, the second payment was &nbsp;due&nbsp;September 1.&nbsp; Please remember that a&nbsp;$50 late fee&nbsp;<strong>is<\/strong> applied on the 4th of the month if the scheduled payment <strong>is<\/strong> not received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We\u2019re Here to Help!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are happy to assist you throughout the semester and want to help make the financial side of college as smooth as possible. Being embedded in the course means they know what is covered in lecture, they collaborate with the faculty&nbsp;member&nbsp;to cover the most important content, and they get what the students are going through.&nbsp;The SI Leaders have taken the course already&nbsp;and are placed&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;course again to be an&nbsp;affective&nbsp;leader.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SI Leaders are&nbsp;trained in:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Active learning principles and practices&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Group -oriented study methods&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clear Communication&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Active listening and responding&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Time and Classroom Management&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Effective group and individual study skills&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Referring students to UTC resources&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find a&nbsp;list of&nbsp;SI supported courses each semester on our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/enrollment-management-and-student-affairs\/center-for-academic-support-and-advisement\/supplemental-instruction\/current-si-session-schedule\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a>&nbsp;starting on the second week of the semester.&nbsp;If your student is enrolled in these courses, they will be invited to SI study groups each week.&nbsp;Encourage them to study with friends who will bring out the best in them! SI is&nbsp;a great place&nbsp;to build these&nbsp;strong habits. Research&nbsp;indicates&nbsp;that in general students who attend SI Sessions regularly earn one-half to whole grade&nbsp;letter&nbsp;higher than students who do not attend at all.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supplemental Instruction is one of a rich list of academic support available at UTC.&nbsp;You can learn more about peer tutoring and peer coaching&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/enrollment-management-and-student-affairs\/academic-support-and-advisement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Academic Support and Advisement\u2019s website.<\/a>&nbsp;Please reach out if you have questions.
