FUNDED PROPOSALS: (11/1/2011 – 11/30/2011) CONGRATULATIONS! The following UTC faculty and staff recently attracted $986,324 in external grant and contract awards: Ms. Dianne Cox (Financial Aid) secured $96,000 from the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation to continue the Tennessee Rural Health Loan Forgiveness Scholarships.  The scholarships provide support for students pursuing a Master’s Degree in Nursing who agree to practice in a rural health shortage area after graduation.   Dr.

FUNDED PROPOSALS: (10/1/2011 – 10/31/2011) CONGRATULATIONS! The following UTC faculty and staff recently attracted $128,996 in external grant and contract awards:   Dr. Deborah McAllister, UC Foundation Professor in the School of Education, secured $12,750 from the Tennessee Space Grant Consortium for workshops for elementary grades pre-service teachers (UTC education majors).  The workshops will be based on mathematics concepts included in NASA educational resources and supported through hands-on problem

FUNDED PROPOSALS: (9/1/2011 – 9/30/2011) CONGRATULATIONS! The following UTC faculty and staff recently attracted $2,488,455 in external grant and contract awards:   Mr. Bob Boyer, Patten Series Manager for the Fine Arts Center, received $4,000 from the Tennessee Arts Commission to host Evidence, A Dance Company as part of the Patten Arts Series.  During their three-day residency in November, the artists will hold a public performance at the UTC

FUNDED PROPOSALS: (8/1/2011 – 8/31/2011) CONGRATULATIONS! The following UTC faculty and staff recently attracted $1,885,089 in external grant and contract awards:   Ms. Dianne Cox, Director of Financial Aid, secured $100,000 from the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation to fund the Reduction-in-Force Severance Benefit College Tuition Assistance Program for the 2011-2012 academic year.  Participants in the program are former State of Tennessee employees who lost their jobs through a reduction-in-force.

The following UTC faculty and staff recently attracted $1,940,154 in external grant and contract awards: Dr. Amy Brock-Hon, Assistant Professor of Geology, secured $3,250 from the U.S. Geological Survey to conduct geologic and geomorphic mapping of Late Neogene and younger sediments in the eastern portion of the Overton, NE 7.5 minute quadrangle, Nevada.  This award will support an undergraduate student assistant and travel

FUNDED PROPOSALS: (4/1/11 – 5/31/11) CONGRATULATIONS! The following UTC faculty and staff recently attracted $219,573 in external grant and contract awards: Dr. Jonathan Mies, Professor of Geology, attracted $1,984 in additional funds from Chattem Chemicals, Inc. to continue Chemical Analyses using X-Ray Diffraction.  The additional funding brings Dr. Mies’s total funding for the project to $3,904.  This partnership brings UTC’s research capacity to bear on research and development activities
