Drs. Jessica Auchter and Amanda Wintersieck (Political Science & Public Service) have received $2,000 from the Ohio Campus Compact for the project entitled, “Campus Election Engagement Project – Fall 2018.”
Dr. J. Kevin Ford (Music) has requested and received $1,250 from ArtsBuild for the project entitled, “UTC Chamber Singers Recording Project and Public Concert of the Choral Music of Ethan McGrath.”
Ms. Laurie Melnik, Dr. Lee Harris, Ms. Angela Dittmar, and Dr. Joel Baxley (Southeast Center for Education) have requested and received $10,000 from Marion County Schools for the project entitled, “Implementing Arts 360 Program at Jasper Elementary School.”
Dr. Marcia Noe (English) has requested and received $3,000 from the Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature for the project entitled, “Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature Publications Editor.”
Drs. Henry Spratt, David Giles (Biology, Geology & Environmental Science), and Dr. David Levine (Physical Therapy) have requested and received an additional $14,963 from HealthySole DETECTO for the project entitled, “Does ultraviolet radiation (UV-C) applied to the soles of shoes in pediatric intensive care units decrease bacterial load and healthcare associated infections?”

Drs. Jejal Reddy Bathi, and Soubantika Palchoudhury (Civil & Chemical Engineering) have submitted a preproposal to the University of Tennessee – Knoxville in collaboration with Tennessee Water Resources Research for the project entitled, “Modeling Fate and Transport of Engineered Nanomaterial in a River System.”
Dr. Azad Hossain (Biology, Geology & Environmental Science) has submitted a preproposal to the University of Mississippi for the project entitled, “Enhancing HAB monitoring and prediction in the Mississippi Sound.”
Dr. Shewanee Howard-Baptiste (Health & Human Performance) has requested $5,400 from the Alliance of Women Philanthropists – Giving Circle for the project entitled, “A Public Health Conference in Haiti.”
Dr. Hamdy Ibrahim (Mechanical Engineering) has requested $20,963 from NIH in partnership with the Ohio State University for the project entitled, “Strong and Resorbable Magnesium Alloy Skeletal Fixation.”
Drs. Andrew Ledoan, Jin Wang, Cuilan Gao, Roger Nichols (Mathematics), and Dr. Sherry Marlow Ormsby (OPEIR) have requested $225,770 from the National Security Agency Central Security Service for the project entitled, “REU Site: Research Training for Undergraduates in Number Theory, Probability, Statistics and Related Fields of Application.”

Dr. Dana Moody (Interior Design), and Mr. R. Paul Baggett (Engineering Management & Technology) have requested $7,272 from the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners for the project entitled, “TBAEE Special Grant 2018 Community Design Studio.”
Dr. Renee Murley (School of Education) has requested $60,571 from the Tennessee Department of Education for the project entitled, “Governor’s School for Prospective Teachers 2018-19.”
Dr. Lisa Piazza (URaCE) has requested $6,802 from the Alliance of Women Philanthropists – Giving Circle for the project entitled, “UTC URACE Ambassadors.”
Dr. Jared Pienkos (Chemistry & Physics) has submitted a preproposal to the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund for the project entitled, “Transition metal hinged trans-bidentate ligands for cross-coupling reactions.”
Dr. Hong Qin (Computer Science & Engineering) has submitted a preproposal to the National Institute of Health for the project entitled, “Using permutations of gene/protein networks for pairwise association analysis of genomic data.”
Dr. Michelle Rigler (Student Affairs) has requested $6,830 from the Alliance of Women Philanthropists – Giving Circle for the project entitled, “Autism Employment Project.”
Dr. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) has requested $15,000 from the City of Chattanooga for the project entitled, “MLK Jr. Boulevard Corridor Mobility Test Bed.”
Drs. Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) and Craig Tanis (Computer Science & Engineering) have requested $249,627 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “OAC Core: SHF: Small: Collaborative Research: RUI: Reconfigurable Accelerated Network Fabrics.”
Drs. Marcus Stoutenberg and Gregory Heath (Health & Human Performance) have requested $9,915 from the Tennessee Department of Health for the project entitled, “UTC Physical Activity Training Workshop: Linking Primary Care with Community Action.”
Mr. Takeo Suzuki (International Education), and Dr. Robert Dooley (Gary W. Rollins College of Business) have requested $164,343 from IREX for the project entitled, “The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).”
Ms. Kristina Wick, Drs. Christine Smith (School of Nursing), and Dr. Lisa Harrison (Physical Therapy) have requested $12,316 from the Alliance of Women Philanthropists – Giving Circle for the project entitled, “Interdisciplinary Standardized Patient Program.”
