Greetings, faculty!
Please see the list of announcements, funding opportunities, and resources below. Archives of previous updates are available on ORSP’s blog.
Announcements
- The Vice Chancellor for Research and the UTC Library are now accepting applications to the FY25 Open Publishing Support Fund. See details under the “Internal Funding Opportunities” section below.
- The annual Outside Interest Disclosure submission window is here! See more in the Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight below.
- Federal agencies such as NIH and the US Department of Energy will begin requiring Digital Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) for all investigators in early 2025. Registering for and utilizing an ORCiD for all your publications is an easy way to meet this requirement. Once established, you can link your ORCiD profile to SciENcv to seamlessly add publications to your biosketch. Want to learn more? Sign up to attend the UTC Library’s Managing Your Scholarly Identity workshop on October 1st or October 2nd at 2pm, or reach out to Scholarly Communications Librarian Rachel Fleming at scholar@utc.edu to schedule individual or group consultations.
- NIH has relaunched their Grants & Funding page as https://grants.nih.gov/. For those who are new to NIH, a full set of tailored resources is available on one New to NIH page.

Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: Conflicts of Interest & Commitment
UT Policy #GE0002 explains the UT Conflict of Interests Policy, provides examples of conflicts of interest and includes information about faculty and staff reporting requirements and links to the Outside Interest Disclosure (OID) Form that all faculty and staff should complete annually. This disclosure process helps the University identify and manage conflicts between employees’ outside interests and their University responsibilities. This is especially important for faculty and staff who are participating in sponsored projects.
ORSP reviews each participating individual’s OID form at the time of proposal and again at time of award. Each individual must have an OID form on file that has been reviewed and approved within the last 12 months. Even if you have no changes to report, a new form must be submitted each year. Note that disclosing an activity does not imply wrongdoing, nor does a disclosure mean that there is a conflict—it simply helps the university identify any perceived, potential, or actual conflicts that may need to be managed. When in doubt, always disclose an outside interest or activity.
NOTE: This year, OID forms are due by December 1 to ensure adequate time for review and approval before IRIS locks down in January. For help filling out your OID form, see the guide on ORSP’s webpage here, as well as the UT Policy Guidance on What to Disclose and Disclosures for Research Activities.
