Greetings, faculty!
Please see the list of announcements, funding opportunities, and resources below. Archives of previous updates are available on ORSP’s blog.
Announcements
- ORSP will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. We wish everyone a nice holiday weekend and look forward to reconnecting with you on Tuesday, May 27.
- The internal selection competition for the NSF MRI program is drawing to a close. Submit your internal proposal via InfoReady Review by May 29 to be considered for this year’s competition. See ORSP’s webpage for help guides and other InfoReady resources.
- DASH Research IRB, a new Institutional Review Board system from the Huron Research Suite, will launch in July 2025. If you have a study that has an expiration date in June or July that you wish to continue past that end date, the IRB strongly recommends that you submit a Form B, Request for Changes, by Saturday, May 31 to avoid any issues with getting approval before the study expires. See ORI’s webpage for the full cutover timeline.
- Most federal agencies now require investigators to have a Persistent Identifier (PID). Setting up an ORCID iD is the easiest way to meet this requirement. Learn more about ORCID and how to create an iD here.
- USDA NIFA is looking for panel reviewers! Learn more and sign up to be a reviewer here.

Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: Overlap on Current and Pending Support Forms
The federal templates for current and pending support forms require PIs to describe any known or potential overlap with the proposed project for each current or pending project listed in the form. This applies at both the proposal and reporting stages. NIH has provided a handy breakdown here of the three types of overlap you should report: scientific overlap, budgetary overlap, and commitment overlap. While the discussion is focused on NIH, the guidance can be generally applied to other federal sponsors. For NSF specific guidance, see the personnel document webpage here.
Best,
