Announcements
- Per notice No. 149, Investigators and other key personnel participating in proposals submitted to NSF after December 31, 2025 must re-download their biosketch and CPoS form from SciENcv to ensure the latest certification regarding research security training appears on the document. Research.gov will begin preventing upload of non-compliant personnel documents on January 1, 2026.
- NSF has released a supplement to the PAPPG (effective December 8). Key changes include the following:
- The definition of research misconduct has been revised to include the use of AI-based tools to fabricate, falsify, or plagiarize proposals or research results. If you use AI-based tools to develop content for proposals, manuscripts, or reports in any capacity, you must disclose the use of the tool to the sponsor and outline how it was used. Failure to disclose the use of AI-based tools in proposal documents or research products may result in a research misconduct allegation.
- The merit review process has been revised to clarify that NSF staff may fulfill one of the two minimum reviewers per proposal.
- NSF funds cannot be used to purchase or operate drones that are manufactured by a covered foreign entity.
- Data produced under NSF awards must be made freely available at the time of publication. The UTC Library’s Scholarly Communications page is an excellent internal resource to help navigate these new requirements. Contact [email protected] with questions.

Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight: Responsible Conduct of Research
UT Policy RE0001 details our policy for Responsible Conduct in Research and Scholarly Activities, the types of activities this policy applies to, and procedures for research misconduct investigations. In addition to the required RECR training for NSF, USDA, and NIH-supported personnel, UTC maintains a Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) membership which provides training courses in a range of research-related topics. If you have questions about this policy or potential training opportunities, please contact the Office of Research Integrity at [email protected].
