Faculty and Staff Picnic

There’s a fun way to work off the tasty treats at the Faculty and Staff picnic planned for Friday, August 8th, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Maclellan Gym and Lansing Court. Horseshoes, cornhole, and ladderball are some of the games you can play! If you like to compete, this is your chance to earn the most points for your area—it doesn’t matter how many people you work with, there will be a system to “level the playing field” so that any office or department can win. If you aren’t into playing games, cheer on your friends as they compete.

Student Health Services will offer you a chance to refresh yourself at the Hydration Station. Visit the sign-in table and you’ll receive three tickets you can spend on desserts or snacks for later, including funnel cakes, soft pretzels, cotton candy, popcorn, or an old fashion Coke float provided by Coca-Cola. Picnic food (including veggie wraps) can be eaten inside Maclellan Gym or outside in Lansing Court. The Aquatic and Recreation Center (ARC) will be open to all faculty and staff and their families from noon-7 p.m. on August 8th. There’s a magnificent swimming pool with a gentle lazy river, a spiral slide, and deeper lanes for the serious swimmers. There’s also a variety of fitness machines, basketball courts, an indoor track, UTC Outdoor equipment and a climbing wall. Read more about UTC Mocs Games and the Faculty and Staff Picnic.

Coming soon!

Freshman move-in day is August 14th, the beginning of weeks of welcoming activities for our incoming students. This is a good time to carry a campus map so that you can assist students and parents with directions.

There will be an opportunity for faculty and staff to volunteer during the “House Calls” program on August 27th, designed to welcome residence hall students to campus and answer their questions. Look for email from Housing and Residence Life for more details.

Strategic Plan discussion phase has begun

Faculty and staff are participating in the discussion phase of a new Strategic Plan for UTC. As we examine the mission, vision, values of our University, and focus on student success, excellence of our education programs and the connections to our community, please consider taking a short, online survey for faculty and staff.

Two UTC students, Lance Geren, an engineering major, and Robbie Moore, a business major, won the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Eastern Regional on Watts Barr Lake, part of the five-day BASSfest event.

In addition to the winner’s trophy, Geren and Moore also received the Livingston Lures Leader award, worth $500 in Livingston products. The team will now begin preparing for the Carhartt College Series National Championship at the Chatuge River Reservoir in Georgia, which will begin July 31 and run through August 2.
