{"id":108,"date":"2025-02-16T18:52:33","date_gmt":"2025-02-16T18:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.utc.edu\/venkateswara-kode\/?page_id=108"},"modified":"2026-06-08T14:47:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T14:47:00","slug":"news","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.utc.edu\/venkateswara-kode\/news\/","title":{"rendered":"News"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summer 2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Congratulations\u00a0to Erin (PI) and Katelyn (co-PI), for winning the\u00a0SEARCH\u00a0Award ($1,000) for the project, \u201cCoffee-Derived Carbon Quantum Dots for Polymer Composite Applications,&#8221; at UTC!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Dr. Kode received the prestigious NSF ERI award ($199,516) to support a new project on, &#8220;Renewable Water Harvesting Using Tunable Solid Bio-Desiccants Derived from Agricultural Waste for Low-Energy Regeneration&#8221; (05\/2026-04\/2028).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Dr. Kode presented an invited talk on, &#8220;Thermal Analysis of Water Vapor Sorption and Hysteresis in Chestnut Shell-Derived Carbons Probed by DVS&#8221; at the 2026 North American Sorption Symposium, hosted at the USDA Forestry Laboratory\u00a0on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/uwmadison\/\">University of Wisconsin-Madison<\/a> campus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Congratulations to Katelyn Hamilton (B.S.) on her graduation!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Dr. Kode received the Faculty Development Grant ($1,500) at UTC!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spring 2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Congratulations to Katelyn, Erin, and Aaron for presenting their research posters at the UTC\u2019s Spring Research and Arts Conference, Chattanooga, 2026!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Congratulations to Katelyn and Erin for presenting their research poster at the Tennessee Capitol event, Nashville, 2026!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Congratulations to Katelyn, Erin, and Aaron for presenting their research posters at the AIChE Southern Regional Conference, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, 2026!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-large-font-size\">Congratulations to Dr. Kode on being competitively selected for the project, &#8220;Controllable, Carbon-Free Synthesis of Boron Nitride Quantum Dots for Quantum Photonics and High-Temperature Optoelectronics,&#8221; UTC-wide to advance to full submission for the ORAU Ralph E.
