Do you remember that feeling you had when you were on your way to your first day of school? A mix of excitement, anticipation, maybe a little fear and trepidation for the work that is to come? First days can be filled equally with mixed emotions for new employees.
Well, on the web team we have grown exponentially in the last year. First, Mike Flores joined Chris Gilligan in January and they have anchored our development work this year. And, on August 15, we increased the development team by one third. Bernardo Martinez is our newest web programmer and now part of the UTC web triumvirate.
Bernardo joins us from Southern Adventist University where he is in the final semester of work on a Master of Business Administration degree. In addition to his studies at SAU, he supported the School of Business as a graduate assistant by updating content using OU Campus (our current content management system). He also developed a new website for them in Drupal (our new content management system). Originally from Panama and fluent in Spanish, Bernardo will be assisting with the Drupal migration as well as translations of some web pages that have been selected to broaden the website target audience.
But we’re not stopping there. We also have two new student workers joining the team this fall. Kishan Patel is working on his Bachelor’s degree in computer science and is a sophomore this year. Allyson Adam is a freshman majoring in cyber security.
The new students are joining our web team that also consists of Joshua Tyler (B.S., Engineering ’19), Jamesen Rees (B.S., Business: Marketing ’21), Aaren Isabel (B.S., Biology: Preprofessional ’21), and Christina Valenti (M.A., English Literature ‘20).
Finally, Sarah Joyner is on loan and an honorary member of the web team as our content strategist. That makes a team of 10, not counting yours truly!
Founders Hall 201 is abuzz with activity as we wind down the website refresh and ramp up the Drupal migration effort. It’s with excitement, anticipation and only very minor amounts of fear and trepidation that we jump in to fall 2019 and the work ahead.
