Artificial Intelligence panel discussion in conjunction with UTC Spring Research and Arts Conference
UTC faculty and student researchers are the focus of this first-ever panel discussion in conjunction with the annual Spring Research and Arts Conference on Wednesday, April 10.
Faculty and students with AI-involved projects in the Research and Arts Conference or making use of AI technologies will talk about their work and its outcomes. Panelists and their topics or projects are:

Laurel Rhyne, faculty lecturer, School of Nursing: Current use of AI applications within the field of Nursing
Dr. Nagwan Zahry, associate professor of communication: Incorporating AI in messaging development by students in Spring 2024 Crisis and Health Communications classes
Shane Ward, Assistant Professor of Art: Incorporating AI into student-created sculplture, “Convergence: Technological Singularity, Societal Collapse, and the Loss of Human Agency”

Joseph Duhamel, undergraduate mathematics major, College of Arts and Sciences, “Evaluate AI-powered tools in predicting Large Vessel Occlusion in Stroke care and Treatment”
Maneesha Vanga, master’s student, College of Engineering and Computer Science, “Fraud Detection in Financial Transactions Using Machine Learning”

Guests also can have an AI-enhanced professional portrait made for professional or social media purposes on-site.
UTC Chief Information Officer Vicki Farnsworth will moderate the panel. Farnsworth also heads up coordination of the UTC AI Initiative and will give a status update on the program.
