In case you haven’t heard (let’s be honest, you probably haven’t) October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month! As helpful as it is to have a whole month devoted to cybersecurity, one month is never enough because hackers never take a day off.
You may have noticed UTC has started its annual compliance training initiative that includes Cybersecurity Awareness training, required by UT System policy.
Starting this week for the month of October, you will be receiving a weekly email from KnowBe4 that is labeled, “Scam of the Week.” These emails are informational and will educate you on the tactics used by hackers to trick users. KnowBe4 is the company that we leverage to help train employees to recognize phishing emails.
As a reminder, if you see something suspicious come across your inbox, please forward it to security@utc.edu or check phishbowl.utc.edu for the latest phishing emails going around.
Happy Cybersecurity Awareness Month and please read the Scam of the Week when it hits your mailbox.
