Greetings campus community! I would like to make you aware of some construction activities that you may encounter on campus this semester.
Pedestrian Way Between ARC and 5th Street Garage:
The pedestrian path between the ARC and the 5th Street Garage will be closed soon for upgrades to our campus electrical distribution system. The upgrades are needed to improve reliability and redundancy. The work is expected to be completed by the end of next summer. Signage directing pedestrians to alternate paths will be installed.
University Center Renovation:
A project to renovate much of the University Center will begin soon. The project will be phased to minimize the impact on the campus community. Directional signage will be installed to assist with wayfinding during construction.
Brock Hall Renovation:
A project is underway to renovate Brock Hall. The building will be offline until the fall semester of 2025.
540 McCallie (CSOB) Renovation:
A project to renovate much of the 540 Bldg. will begin soon. The project will replace critical building envelope features (roof, windows, etc.), replace building systems (i.e. HVAC, electrical, elevators, plumbing, etc.), and renovate some interior spaces.
Fletcher Hall Addition:
A project to expand Fletcher Hall will begin soon. The initial phase of the project will relocate existing underground utilities to accommodate the building construction. There will be some street closures near the intersection of Douglas and Oak Streets. There will also be some rerouting of pedestrian traffic in the area. As those plans are finalized, they will be shared with the campus.
Health Sciences Building:
A new Health Sciences Building will be constructed near the intersection of Palmetto and 3rd Streets. Some parking in the area will be affected and Parking Services will communicate those to campus as the planning is completed.
McKenzie Arena:
The Wolford Family Athletic Center addition to McKenzie Arena has dramatically improved the main entrance to campus. The new addition and renovation spaces are now fully occupied. There is additional work underway that will install exterior digital displays above Gates 1 & 3.
