On behalf of the Mocs Recovery Program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, we are seeking potential applicants for Advisory Board Members.
The mission of the Mocs Recovery program is to provide a recovery-minded community in which UTC students in all phases of recovery, can pursue their personal, professional, and academic goals for the purpose of enhancing personal wellness and contributions to the global community. CRP staff collaborate with UTC professionals to support a continuum of care model (prevention, treatment, and recovery) for substance use disorders.
The vision of the Mocs Recovery program is to be a model recovery-minded community that engages and encourages UTC students in their pursuit of sustained recovery and an enriched college experience. In addition to aiding in recovery, the CRP at UTC aims to add value to the academic, social, and professional aspects of the lives of its members.
Our approach to recovery is three-fold:
- Self-guided: Mocs Recovery believes that recovery is individualized and self-guided. We acknowledge that one size does not fit all and that recovery is a personalized journey. Our intent is to support our members to help them thrive in all aspects of their student life.
- Multiple Pathways: It is encouraged that each member identifies the strategy most advantageous to their success and evolution as a student at UTC. We support many avenues to recovery, including SMART Recovery, 12-step groups, Al-Anon and other groups.
- Holistic: Mocs Recovery believes that recovery support services work best when they focus on the whole person. Therefore, we coordinate with the Center for Wellbeing and provide access to mindful practices, emotional support, informational support, and referrals to a myriad of community-based organizations and groups.
The responsibilities for this position include:
- Aid in the development of research and program evaluation of the Mocs Recovery program
- Identifying potential funding sources and writing grants to aid in the support of the Mocs Recovery program
- Assist in the development and review of policies and procedures related to the Mocs Recovery program
- Attend quarterly meetings to discuss the Mocs Recovery program
- Advocacy initiatives related to promoting recovery on the UTC campus
