About the Search Committee Orientation
Search Committee Orientation is a critical component of UTC’s hiring process. What was previously conducted via Zoom as Seach Committee Training has now transitioned to a new and refreshed online Search Committee Orientation—a self-paced asynchronous online training module that resides in K@TE. This shift ensures a more streamlined process, consistency in content, accessibility, and convenience for all participants.
It emerged as a collaboration between the Office of Equity & Inclusion (OEI) and Human Resources (HR) and underscores our institutional commitment to continuous improvement in fostering an inclusive and equitable hiring environment at UTC.
For whom is the Search Committee Orientation intended?
The new and refreshed Search Committee Orientation equips search committee members with the necessary knowledge and skills to take informed action and to navigate the search process while adhering to Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity (AA/EEO) compliance guidelines. It reinforces an understanding of the laws and policies applicable to the search and recruitment process, offers best practices, and discusses the intricacies of faculty and exempt staff searches.
When should you take the Search Committee Orientation?
Faculty and exempt staff members serving on search committees must undergo Search Committee Orientation every two years if they plan to participate in the hiring process for positions at UTC. It is not required for non-exempt staff searches but is highly recommended.
