Mocs Recovery is a peer-led program open to those who are in recovery, curious about recovery, or have loved ones impacted by substance use and/or mental health. All recovery pathways are respected here.
New Location!
Exciting news! Come check out our improved space. Due to the start of construction in the University Center, Mocs Recovery has moved to South Campus! Our new space is attached to Stacy Town Center (815 University Street). The entrance is through the double doors right off the street in between the picnic tables.
Fall Groups
- Healing Through Harmony – Mondays 2-3pm
Join us as we use art to discuss the struggles we often encounter today, and what we can do to support our mental health and recover.
Music is used quite a bit, but you do not need to be able to play an instrument/sing to come! All that’s really required is that you enjoy listening to music!
We will sometimes have various other art/media-based activities, but of course there’s no skill required! This is just a place to talk, learn, and meet others you can relate to.
- All Recovery – Tuesdays 2-3pm
Whether you are in recovery (or exploring recovery) related to substance use, mental health, eating disorders, or behavioral addictions, ALL are welcome here. We also welcome those impacted by a loved one’s substance use or mental health. This is place to build community with peers, support one another, and enhance your self-care toolkit.
- SMART Recovery – Wednesdays 4-5pm
This peer group is focused on supporting students in their substance use recovery journey. SMART Recovery is a science-based program providing tools to help people manage their recovery from substances such as alcohol, nicotine, or other drugs.
All recovery pathways are respected here. You can be sober, utilizing harm reduction, or curious about improving your relationship to substances.
Scholarship Opportunity
Are you a student in recovery from a substance use disorder? The Zack Meservey Foundation is accepting applications for a $500 scholarship that can be recurring for up three years. Apply here.
Group Facilitators Needed!
If you are a student with lived experience in any of the recovery areas supported by Mocs Recovery, we would love to have you support the groups as a facilitator! We are especially in need of facilitators for our LGBTQ+ All Recovery group. We provide free training and connect you with a co-facilitator. If you are interested, please email megan-mcknight@utc.edu.
