As you may know, this year’s Read to Achieve text is Sarah Sinclair’s How We Go Home: Voices from Indigenous America, a series of oral histories collected by Sinclair. As a reminder HWGH is available as an ebook through the UTC Library.
The Read to Achieve Committee selected this text as many of these histories touch on a variety of issues we bring into our courses at UTC. To that end we compiled a list of resources for faculty teaching any of the histories in their courses. These resources include:

Additionally we have identified several themes among the narratives and developed guiding questions and provided links to popular, scholarly, and multimodal sources for these themes. Themes include economic disparities/poverty, education/educational disparities, environmental justice/resource extraction, foster care/adoption, gender violence, health/healthcare disparities, homelessness, mental health/healthcare disparities, intergenerational trauma, missing/murdered Indigenous women and girls, policing/incarceration, reclaiming culture/cultural erasure, representation/identity, tribal sovereignty/authority/UNDIP, voting rights/representation.
