Campus Community,
A short time ago during the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees annual meeting, UT President Randy Boyd announced the 2021 UT President’s Award recipients, and it is my pleasure to share the great news that our own Val Sample is one of this year’s winners. Each of the UT-affiliated entities makes nominations, but only six system-wide winners are selected. One honoree is recognized for contributions in the areas of education, research, outreach, advancing diversity and support for the university mission, with one exempt staff winner and a non-exempt staff winner in the support category.
Val is executive director of Residential Education and Campus Life and, in that role, she has provided critical leadership, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic and as we prepare to implement our ambitious Cohort 2025 initiative this fall. Please join me in congratulating Val on this exceptional and well-deserved honor. You can read more about her accomplishments and the awards program here.
