As you know, UTC has entered into a three-year agreement with Ellucian to address our campus-wide IT operation. That contract began on August 1. Today I would like to give you an update on the areas of engagement over the past two months. Those areas include leadership services in central IT, the implementation of a 7x24x365 Helpdesk, strategic services, and revitalization of our Banner environment.
In the leadership services area, six Ellucian positions have been posted and recruiting is underway. I am pleased to announce that two of the positions have been filled. An Ellucian Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) has been hired and will be relocated to the Chattanooga area to begin work on October 9, 2017. Also, the position of Ellucian Technical Director (TD) for the IT Department has been filled. Ron Baker, who has been with the IT Department at UTC for four years, has accepted the TD position and is now working as an Ellucian employee, reporting to the Ellucian Transition CIO Bo Vieweg. Recruiting for the remaining positions continues, and I will provide further updates in the near future.
The expanded Helpdesk service was implemented on September 15, 2017, and to date the service has been quite successful. In the first 10 days of operation, the service responded to more than a thousand requests for assistance from faculty, staff and students, resolving over 80% of the requests during the initial call.
Ellucian Functional Analysts are now on campus to undertake our Banner revitalization initiative. These experts will build off the exceptional work done by the UTC Banner Team, and they have begun to work with the business units to determine how best to serve the goals of the University.
I continue to appreciate the hard work, commitment, and cooperation from our IT staff.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
