The Styles L. Hutchins Fellowship launched this semester with the goal of keeping more black students in Chattanooga after they graduate. Four UTC students have been selected as fellows in the program: Ryenne McDowell, Marquise Tate, Dominique Malone, and Khadesha Gordon! The fellowship is being led by Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke with support from UTC, the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce and the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga.
Do you have a business idea you believe can be a success? The Mocs Big Business Idea Competition gives you the chance to pitch your idea. The competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. The winner will receive $2,000 and the runner-up gets $1,000. Both also receive free registration for a Co.Starters workshop and free mentoring from local legal and accounting firms. The registration deadline is Monday, October 21, at utc.edu/pitch. Good luck!
Halloween is coming up on Thursday, October 31, and several events are planned. Our library has an open house with free games, food and a costume contest from 1-3 p.m. First prize is a $50 Starbucks card, second is a $25 card. The Disability Resource Center also has an open house from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. featuring a chili cookoff and information about the center’s education efforts.
